Mary’s Route — Education Strategy
Strategy

Comprehensive Educational

Initiatives Our educational presence spans multiple member states of the Council of Europe, actively operating across all major tiers of academic development—including primary, secondary, and higher education institutions. Alongside traditional classroom frameworks, we design and implement groundbreaking non-formal educational programs that spark curiosity and active participation.

A cornerstone of our non-formal strategy is our strong partnership with the Erasmus+ program. In these non-formal learning spaces, we purposefully break down traditional hierarchical barriers: educators and students engage side-by-side on equal footing, typically gathered in collaborative circles. Students are continuously encouraged to ask questions and express their ideas freely, actively strengthening their connection to European democratic values and civic engagement.

To ensure young people are well-equipped for the digital age, we integrate modern digital methodologies into our training to enhance participants' digital competencies. We frequently leverage interactive tools like Kahoot!, transforming knowledge testing into an engaging, gamified learning experience. Furthermore, we actively guide and empower participants to discover and utilize key European mobility tools, such as Youthpass and Europass.

Through our programs, we connect countless young minds with the extraordinary heritage sites along Mary’s Route, fostering a deep appreciation for the core European cultural values our route embodies. To amplify this message, Mary’s Route has developed two thematic traveling exhibitions that have toured numerous educational institutions in recent years. These compelling exhibitions highlight crucial ecological and heritage themes through the unique lens of Mary’s Route.

Regular Adult Education & Community Engagement

Since October 2022, we have hosted immersive showcase events along Mary’s Route every single weekend, offering the public an authentic connection to Central Europe’s rich pilgrimage cultural heritage. To date, more than 1,400 individuals have participated in these empowering sessions. Over recent years, we have successfully expanded these events across an increasing number of locations while integrating them directly into the Erasmus+ framework.

True to our commitment to inclusion, our training programs remain completely open to everyone.

Internal Capacity Building & Strategic Collaborations

In recent years, we have placed paramount importance on continuous internal development, focusing on the specialized training of our members, volunteers, and strategic partners.

Through close collaboration with numerous European Cultural Routes, we have absorbed invaluable expertise and proven best practices—partnerships we are fully committed to maintaining and expanding in the coming years. Through these exchanges, we have built advanced competencies in safeguarding European cultural heritage as well as strategic cultural and tourism marketing. We will enthusiastically carry this educational momentum forward into the future.

Additionally, we organize targeted meetings and training sessions for local businesses situated along the route—a vital community-building activity that we will proudly continue to drive forward in the years ahead.
